Why are some factor entries without a SwissProt link?

0

We strive to have all factor entries for which SwissProt entries can be found interlinked with them. In those cases where no SwissProt link is present (yet), this may be due to one of the following reasons: Either the factor has not yet been cloned (or at least it had not yet been cloned, when the FACTOR entry was made in TRANSFAC®), and thus no SwissProt entry is/was present for this factor. In this case, sooner or later there will be a SwissProt link. Or the factor is not a single protein, but a complex/heteromer of two or more proteins. In this case, the SwissProt links can be found in the monomer entries, which should be linked again to the entry containing the complex.
