Why are some blocks so oddly designed as pieced blocks?
BlockBase is a historic source of quilt block information as well as a source of patterns. So BlockBase faithfully reproduces the blocks just as they really appeared when they were published. Surprisingly, some blocks were not designed to make them easy to sew. Perhaps their designers, often newspaper columnists, just drew block designs without really thinking in terms of sewing ease.
