Why are some Asian parents against their kids dating other races?
The truth of the matter is, Asian parents in the end do not want biracial grandchildren. Sorry, but it is true. Also, no matter how kind you are, smart, open-minded, etc, there will always be a “gap” of communication, even if the parents speak English well. And there is a tendency to condescend if there are any differences in the way each culture approaches life situations. My two brothers married Caucasian women. The women are both kind. However, there is always a gap, and my Korean parents do not feel comfortable. We can talk about racism and political correctness all we want, but it doesn’t “solve” the problem. There is always this proverbial elephant in the living room.
