Why are some animals only mentioned in the first book, Redwall?
There are several animals (horses, cattle, dogs, and the solitary beaver) that are only mentioned in the first book, Redwall. This is simply because Brian Jacques hadn’t planned on writing a whole series. He hadn’t quite figured out how he wanted the Mossflower world to work yet, and so there are a few anomalies that pop up from time to time. Snowfur’s advice: don’t pay too much attention to it.
