Why are Social Security numbers (SSN) requested? How will my Social Security number be protected?
Social Security numbers and birthdates are necessary to run the background checks. For protection and security, service units will not have access to Social Security numbers. Only the application, which is forwarded directly to Volunteer Services by the prospective volunteer, will have the Social Security number and date of birth listed on it.
