Why are so many women unfamiliar with the Menstrual Cycle?
Education, is a biggy, that and menstrual cycles are different. No 2 women cycle the same so sometimes it is hard to know what is “right ” & “wrong” or put more like this when the is it time to see a GP about something not being right or when just to chill because there is more than one person that has similar symptons.
To be fair there is a heck of alot of misinformation about the menstrual cycle, and its a bit of a taboo subject, so unless you deliberately go and look it up you’re not going to understand fully whats happening or why. Also it is possible that the girls you meet are simply faking ignorance about the matter, because they just do not wish to talk about it. But yes, if they were not paying attention in school then they’re probably never going to fully understand, which i agree with you, is kinda scary.
I’ve never had a reason to be overly familiar with my cycle. (Seriously.) I’m not worried about TTC (already have 2 – we’re done). I’m not worried about cancer (get checked every year like both my docs tell me to). And I’m not worried about “when it’s that time”. So I don’t see any need to be overly concerned about it at this point (I’m 30). Is there something I’m missing?
