Why are so many people against health care reform in the US?

The “reform” has nothing to do with cutting costs. It’s the government adding 30 million people, on the taxpayer’s dollar, to an already overburdened health care system. And since it will increase health care costs, you know the Democrats will blame that on the health insurance companies, and use it for a future stab at single payer.

I think if you talk to true conservatives and liberal moderates there is one specific point of contention that the entire truthful opposition rests on and that is the Individual Mandate. It is simply not in step with our ideals of individual freedom and the right of all of us to choose our own path. If you took out the mandate and the $750 fine for not having health insurance I wouldn’t be surprised to see the opposition numbers dwindle to only those that are simply republican sloganeers. I think the biggest problem rests in the mandate.
