Why are so many Muslims against freedom of speech, particularly in relation to Muhammad or Islam?

I am one Muslim who isn’t against Freedom of speech; however I think before it can be defended it needs to apply to all. The paper that published the infamous cartoons refused to publish cartoons that depicted Christ in a way they considered inflammatory, so it would appear they felt what was good for the goose wasn’t good for the gander. I think myself that the Ummah or Muslim community needs to lighten up a bit. They aren’t Muslim and can’t be expected to act in accordance to Sharia. They will get the reward of their actions on the last day. I’ve been shunned by many for saying as much, but I also think that it is unreasonable to be surprised at the reactions. Try calling a black person the N word, some will undoubtedly be offended and become violent. Its human nature and freedom of speech has limits. Doing or saying something purposely to hurt or provoke isn’t a proper use of freedom of speech.
