Why are so many downcomer sizes used?

0

Koch-Glitsch uses downcomer sizes in certain standard increments (0.75″ for single pass trays) to minimize cost to customers, but frequently receives specified sizes from customers. Some customers permit adjusting these to Koch-Glitsch’s standard widths and others do not. A rule of thumb for single pass trays is 1″ downcomer width per foot of column diameter. Due to the wide variety of customer needs and materials handled, Koch-Glitsch makes many non-standard widths available.
