Why are so Many Doctors Against Universal Healthcare?
Recently, some of my more liberal friends have asked me, “But you’re a doctor, why wouldn’t you want health care to be provided to everybody?” The average liberal cannot understand why the people who know and care the most about our health care system are almost unanimously opposed to the current Democrat health care reform bills in the House and Senate. I try to explain this to them: Anyone who knows anything about the health care systems currently run by the government ie. Medicare and Medicaid, knows that they are miserable failures, ticking time bombs that are set to blow up in the near future. You see, the government runs its programs in a way that would land any private business not only bankrupt but in jail. But there is no such thing as bankruptcy for the government, they just keep borrowing more money. Even with all they have borrowed so far, Medicare is currently $30 Trillion in debt.
