Why are so many Christians converting to Wicca?
I can tell you trends I see and why I converted. I cannot tell you why every person converts to Wicca, or why every Christian who converts does so. Christianity, particularly Protestant Christianity, is very unbalanced. There is no concept of feminine divinity. The traditions are steeped in patriarchy, and many women find it difficult to reconcile the Bible (which contains clear sexism and misogynism) with their education, or their knowledge of their own abilities. They find it difficult to comprehend why an all-knowing, all-powerful deity is so sexist. Christianity’s comparatively strict dogma and doctrine doesn’t often allow for individual thoughts. It certainly doesn’t encourage them, and organized religion often suppresses them. Many of us actually read the Bible. What we found within its pages was impossible to reconcile with an all-knowing, all-powerful, wise, loving, merciful deity.
