Why are so many celebrities dying now?
I think it just feels like it, because Michael Jackson was such a big celebrity. Part of it is that we’re used to hearing about one celebrity dying, then not hearing anything more until the next one (even if it’s only a short time after), but when it’s someone like Jackson, it’s in the news for so long that it’s natural that other celebrities will die during the same period, and having others dying whilst Jackson is still big news makes it seem like they are dropping like flies. It’s the same with other big news stories, they always seem to be followed by a load of smaller similar stories, again the fact that the big story lasts for so long so it’s still big news alongside the more minor incidents that are far more regular. It can actually be even worse in many cases as stories that would normally be too minor to be newsworthy suddenly are (especially happens with plane and train crashes, anything remotely similar will be big news for some time after wards, even if it’s quite common bu
