Why Are So Few Restaurants (Or Mostly Chains) Appearing When I Shake the iPhone?
It may be that Urbanspoon is new to that area and we are still gathering information for the restaurants in that area. We only show restaurants on the “Shake” screen that have a price range set for them (because of the $ wheel). Price is easy to determine for chain restaurants, and harder for more interesting, locally owned restaurants. If you’re willing to help, adding price and other information for restaurants in your area will go a long way in improving the Urbanspoon app. In the meantime, you can prevent chain restaurants from coming up in the results by clicking the “Filter” button in the upper right, and setting the “No Chains” slider to ON.
