Why are Silicon and Boron important to bone health and bone integrity?
Boron and Silicon act synergistically in this product to help maintain bone health and stem bone degeneration. Boron plays a key role in the retention of Calcium by our bones. In a study carried out by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, post-menopausal women who took daily doses of Boron (3 mg) lost 40% less Calcium when urine samples were taken. Research has also revealed that the body may need Boron to synthesize estrogen, Vitamin D and other steroid hormones. Boron may also protect these hormones from rapid breakdown. Silicon is required for proper integrity of skin, ligaments, tendons and bone. Silicon is required for the proper functioning of the enzyme prolyhydroxylase which is responsible for the formation of collagen in bone, cartilage and other connective tissues. Silicon may also be important in bone calcification. In order to target all possible prone areas of the bone, Magnesium, Boron and Silicon are as important to supplement as Calcium is.
