Why are return labels no longer provided with the toner bottle?
The cost of transporting the empty toner containers back to Xerox is high and the environmental benefit small. A returned empty bottle travels an average of 1200 miles, resulting in the consumption of fuel resources and generation of carbon dioxide and air emissions. Toner bottles and containers used in our products are designed for safe local disposal. Some bottles may also be recycled in your local mixed plastic waste stream. Where possible, Xerox is encouraging customers to recycle or dispose of their empty toner containers locally. If a mixed plastic recycling outlet is not available to you, you may request pre-paid return labels from our web site (www.xerox.com/gwa) and Xerox will recycle the empty toner bottle either through reuse or a waste-to-energy recycling process.
