Why are Pure 1 products more hygienic than bottled water or “bottle-less” coolers?
Bottled water is generally very good quality-in the bottle. But once the seal is broken, the bottle is subject to many different risks of contamination. Bacteria and other pathogens are introduced onto the outside of the bottle from the hands of the many people handling it, and then migrates into your water supply. Air drawn into the bottle when it bubbles contains all of the germs of the people who have been and breathed, sneezed or coughed around the cooler. Pure 1 systems are sealed and filtered, and are not open to human or air contamination. Bottle-less coolers also eliminate the risk of human contact, and generally employ some sort of air filter (though usually far inferior to Pure 1’s 0.22 micron filter). But, unlike Pure 1, these coolers treat the water first and then store it. The stored water is subject to post-treatment contamination and algae growth. By contrast, Pure 1 stores its water with the residual disinfectant (usually the chlorine from your municipal source water) i
