Why Are Play Kitchens Such a Hit?

0

With all the many toys kids have at their disposal why are play kitchens such a universal hit? I’ve given this a lot of thought, and I believe I have come up with a suitable answer. Play kitchens are a child’s version of “real life”. Cooking is something they see happen on a daily basis, something that is deemed an “adult” task. While many kids will ask if they can cook too, often the answer is no. As we work with hot stoves, sharp knives and other inappropriate utensils for a child’s hand, our kids are drawn to what they can not do. While we as adults might see cooking as just another chore they see it has elusive and creative. We take several raw ingredients and presto! We have created a meal for our family to enjoy and eat. A toy kitchen helps to emulate this same scenario in a child’s eye. They too get to create their own masterpieces and share it with their friends and family. I have yet to go into a kindergarten class, a day care, or a preschool and not see a toy kitchen sitting
