Why are personality disorders only diagnosed in adults?
Answer I am not 100% on this topic but the only reason I recall from the text is because personality disorders are rigid traits that are characteristic of a person, and since childhood and adolescence are what defines who a person is or who a person becomes psychologists are hesitant to diagnose a child or teenager as having a PD because their personality has not yet fully formed or developed. Ironically, most adolescents DO have a form of Personality Disorder, they just outgrow it.
