Why are people so amazed when top thrill dragster gets stuck at the top?
People are intimidated by the size and sheer height of Top Thrill Dragster. Rides getting ‘stuck’ have always kind of freaked people out, and the media loves getting footage of stuff like that. Titan (Six Flags Over Texas) stopped on the lift hill on media day back in 2001, and there was a helicopter nearby getting footage of the ‘incident’ for the evening news. Yes, the media was already in the park to preview the ride, but I remember this making national news! People are intimidated because they are way up there, when the train is not moving. It is really not that big of a deal, as most of the time it is the safety blocking system working as it should. Something abnormal was detected, whether or not there was a true problem, and the ride was stopped. In TTD’s case, the train gets stuck because the train is not launched fast enough for the train to clear the hill. Riders are never truly stranded, and they will be taken care of.
