Why Are People Sleeping On The Job In France?
In France, they are spending over nine million dollars to do a study of the effects of sleep on the body and on a person’s work performance. Right now, French people who work already enjoy a thirty-five hour work week; and now they are considering a one hour nap during the work day to determine if sleep will improve work performance. They also want to ban late night working for day workers and television, coffee, colas, and foods high in sugar after 8:00 pm. This study is being conducted and supported by the state run health insurance program in France. It is estimated that approximately one in every three French people suffer from a lack of sleep and that this lack of sleep does affect work performance and other things the person does throughout the day. It is also estimated that 30%-40% of all auto wrecks in France are the result of sleepiness. So, that is why people are sleeping in France.
