Why are people saying that Christians stole Christmas/Easter from pagans?
Well so far you have had a great majority of verbal crap given to you. Now for a bit of history. 1. Easter has nothing at all to do with anything pagan. The Easter celebrations, as practised by the Christian Churches, are rooted firmly in the biblical accounts of Christ’s death and resurrection. The date is derived from the Jewish Passover because the Bible account says that is when the events happened- originally on the following Sunday, now drifted off somewhat because of various changes to the calendar. In some countries, folk customs of doubtful origin have grown up around Easter – like the Easter Bunny – but, as these are only known from around the 16h century, there is no evidence of any link to paganism. 2. Christmas. Again the Church’s celebrations are firmly rooted in the biblical texts. Unlike Easter, there is no firm date given in the Bible for the date of Christ’s birth.
