The Chinese government have been operating a hugely oppresive regime against its poulation for over a hundred years. Under Chairman Mao millions were displaced and removed to imprisonment for expressing discontent. So-called thought crimes. In order to control population growth a policy of one child per family was introduced. Compulsory abortion was imposed for women who became pregnant a second time. Physical torture and attempts at mind control were routine in China’s prisons and labour camps. Millions were killed for dissenting from state control. The Tibet issue is but the latest in an extremely long line of human rights issues that are universally condemmed. The Chinese government, prior to being awarded the Olympics, promised to improve their internal human rights record – they have done nothing to move things in a positive direction.
