Why are only some House and Senate committee hearings webcast?

It is not inexpensive to purchase and install the cameras used to webcast hearings at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. In order to mediate these costs, only some of the hearing rooms have been equipped with these audio/visual devices. The relatively large room in which the Indiana House of Representatives meets—known as the House Chamber—is also equipped with the cameras and microphones necessary to webcast its sessions. Hearings and sessions are normally available both live as well as via archived a/v files. Occasionally, technical problems arise that delay or prevent the archiving of these webcasts.
