The purpose of this program is not to develop and test experimental technologies. Rather, it is to retrofit diesel school buses with proven emission control equipment to reduce particulate emissions. Therefore, only technologies that have been tested and verified by the EPA or CARB will qualify for funding under this program. Furthermore, it was decided that oxidation catalysts do not provide the level of reduction desired under the Program.
