Why are nursery rhymes good for kids?
The rhyming and rhythm that’s inherent in nursery rhymes is really good for the part of the brain that develops between zero and 2 years old. It clues them in to how language works. Nursery rhymes are these little nugget, bite-sized pieces of literature that have survived through the ages. How did you think of a dancing nursery-rhyme DVD? During tap class one day I thought, there is something about the rhythm of tapping and the rhythm of nursery rhymes that makes good bedfellows.
