Why are newly installed programs highlighted on my start menu? Can i turn this off?

By default Highlight Newly Installed Applications is enabled. To disable it follow the instructions below. Right-click the Start button –> Properties –> Customize –> Advanced Uncheck Highlight newly installed applications.
