Why are myths created?
Myths were created and retold for centuries to help explain the unknown or unexplainable. Not all myths are the same though, and different myths tell a different story. There were creation myths that tried to provide an explanation for the origins of our universe and all the intricacies that make it up. There were nature myths that helped to rationalize natural phenomena: why the sun rises and sets each day, why the seasons change, etc. There were myths that helped to explain the creation of human beings and the complexities of human nature. There were myths explaining religions and cultures. There were myths that helped to teach a lesson or moral principles, by showcasing the feats of heroism of some great mortal that was only achieved through fortitude, perseverance, and often, brute strength.
