Why are my taxes different than a similar propertys across town?
Differences in taxes can be due to several items such as levies, Homestead Exemption, a new building (or a portion of one) added to a property, and market value. For example, if a particular taxing district has a new levy being added to its tax bills, while a district across town has a levy being removed from tax bills, this could cause a significant difference in taxes. Either adding or removing a building, or adding more square footage to a building, can also cause taxes to change because the overall market value of the property changes.
