Why are my false nails taking so long to melt in acetone….?

I recently answered a similar question. Here is my reply:- Start by filing the nails down as much as possible, then file the actual face of the artificial nail so it is rough. Then get a bowl of warm water (not boiling but hot), then fill a smaller (acetone friendly) bowl with acetone and float this bowl in the bowl of warm water. Soak your nails in the acetone in the smaller bowl for about 10 mins (the heat from the warm water will speed up the chemical process). Then remove and using a nail file gentle file away the acrylic/silk. If there is still lot of the product left on your nail soak your nails for a further 10 mins. After you have removed all the artificial nail, wash your hands and apply lots of hand cream as acetone is very drying to the skin.
