Why are most young animated characters voiced by women?
All children have high-pitched voices, but men’s voices tend to become much deeper as they age and go through puberty, whereas women typically retain a high-pitched voice throughout their lives, making them better matches for young characters. Also, actual children can be hard to work with since they may not entirely understand the media they’re acting for and will have less voice acting experience. There are also legal issues surrounding children that don’t apply to adults.
