If you carefully look at the drawings, the humans are usually smaller and less significant that the animal counterparts. This is because animals were considered the most important part of the structure of the tribe. In fact, animals, especially buffalo were considered more important than the tribal members because of the purpose of the animal…food. It is believed that cave drawings were tribes way of passing down the stories of the great hunt. The drawings were also used to describe the birth and death of a great tribal member. But the animal was a primary significance in the life of the tribal members and were therefore depicted on the walls as a tribute to them for their food source.
