Why are most houses in US prefabricated ? ?

Up until the early part of the 16th century England was mostly oak forests.Henry V111.decided to build the biggest navy in the world and chopped them down for ships,,denying builders their main source of building materials. Our houses would have developed from wood frames otherwise. When our forefathers discovered that there was massive clay belts under a lot of southern England,it didnt take long to establish that when clay is shaped and dried it turns to stone and commenced to build our houses from it,and still do.Unfortunately there is not enough clay deposited in the U.S.so brick houses never happened there.
