Why are most fudamentalist Christians pro Israel?
Because they equate the Israeli state today with the regathering of the Jews as given in the Old Testament prophetic books. In fact it is the only nation in the history of the world to come back into existance after 2,000 years. Still this does not mean that this state IS the regathering that the Bible speaks about, but fundamental Christians almost to a person believe that. People, most of them, and even Christians themselves, often lose sight of the fact that Christianity is an offshoot of the Jewish religion. They have accepted Jesus Christ as the messiah foretold in the Jewish prophetic books feeling that Christ fullfilled all the prohecies made concerning messiah in those writings. Christ however did not reestablish the kingdom of Israel in his time on earth. We read in the new testament of him being asked many times when he would establish the Kingdom of God, i.e. the Jewish theocratic state.
