Why are mice used in genetic experiments as compared to any other animal?

0

The reason mice are used as the “guinea pigs” for genetic experiments, is because they are one of the most closely related animals to humans. Since the point of all these experiments is to help humans eventually, it only makes sense to test them on the animal that is closely related to humans. Mice have many similar DNA strands/amino acids (proteins)/functions as humans do. Research has proven that mice tend to act towards drugs/experiments the same way a human would. Some people argue why not use chimps since they are as closely related to humans as possible. Even though this is true, imagine how much harder the experiments would be! Mice are small and easy to manipulate whereas chimps don’t necessarily compromise to the situations. It is unfortunate for mice to be the experiment, yet I would rather it is mice than humans…what do you think?
