Why are Mexican Congressmen calling for President Obama to stop enforcing U.S. immigration laws?
Pretty simple. The Mexican government is run entirely by a small group of individuals who are rather wealthy. The rest of the population lives in “third-world” conditions. Instead of trying to help it own population via government programs, charitable donations, etc; the Mexican government would rather allow those uneducated poor citizens of Mexico illegally enter the United States and have the US Government take care of them. Thus this reduces the poor and uneducated numbers in Mexico and the Mexican Government has less to worry about. Furthermore, all of those illegal immigrants send large amounts of money back to Mexico to their families that haven’t illegally crossed yet. This money is often used to pay for “coyotes” to help the remaining family sneak into the US or is spent in Mexico. These remittances are the second largest source of income for Mexico behind its oil exports.
