Why Are Metals Mostly Solid Or In Some Few Cases Liquids While Halogens Are Mostly Gases?

0

Metals are solid or liquid, as in the case with mercury, due to the fact that the earth’s temperature is lower – ie. Sun extremely hot, though contains many metals, they are gas form due to high heat. Any metal can be converted to liquid when heated at the right temperature. Gases on the other hand have a completely different chemical stucture, or as they say, unstable and shifting constantly. Though you will find certain gases trapped in mineral, many will be released over a period of time. For instance, an area which is high in limestone, which is mostly calcium magnesium, will slowly release argon gases which are dangerous when inhaled by mammals etc.
