Why are melting glaciers revealing artefacts from the Medieval and earlier eras?
What would you expect when the glaciers melt, things begin to show up that were buried in the ice. The artefacts don’t get up, run away and hide when the ice goes away? I lost a snow shovel in the snow last winter, and do you know what? I found it in the spring. Ah, but maybe you are asking, why are we seeing artefacts now that were buried thousands of years ago if today is warmer then when the artefacts were first buried in ice. The first obvious point may be that glaciers are not static. Things that are trapped in the glacier move with the glacier and there is no way of telling where the initial site of deposition of the artefacts was located. Chances are however, gravity will have its way on the mountain and things will move down hill to warmer elevations. If you look at glaciers in time lapse you will see that it is a constantly moving. It forms at the top and melts at the bottom. Sometimes if something falls on the top, it can be carried to the bottom and then melt out and it depends on how fast the glacier moves and how far it has to go. In other circumstances the glacier can advance over an artifact and later retreat and expose it. Clearly there were comparably warm periods. Those that deny it are grasping at straws.

In the case of the Swiss Alps, if gravity did play a role, that would mean that the artifacts were buried further up the mountains meaning it was actually even warmer.
