Why are mbt disc bells made out of cast iron and not out of aluminum?

We have made the decision to use a cast iron, which is also used in the automotive industry. Aluminum has a tendency towards contact corrosion when it comes in contact with other metal parts (e.g. the rotor) of the system. When installing aluminum disc bells it is needed to use heavier, multi part bolts – “bobbins” – to connect the bells with the rotor. Thanks to the intelligent design of our disc bells (with lighter bobbins) and our CNC machining, the weight of our system is comparable with aluminum versions. When our disc bells are used and maintenanced properly, they can be re-used several times. Aluminum disc bells need to be made out of high quality “aircraft” aluminium (without “snails” and air bubbles) with high density. We offer disc bells made out of this premium material for special purposes and track use.
