Why are many mini-bikes and scooters illegal on the streets?

0

All “street legal” vehicles have to meet safety standards, local, state, and Federal. Minibikes don’t meet those standards. In general, minibikes, and some powered scooters, lack the required equipment to be driven on the street, especially lights and brakes, wheels and tires. Even if so equipped, they may not be made from “DOT-approved” components, which require a minimum degree of quality and safety to be approved.
