Many country clubs are run by a family, so it offers an opportunity for them to get away together. Managers most often live on-site, and some club members believe they are “on call” (for them) 24/7. The other reason many country clubs, as well as some night clubs and restaurants, “go dark” on Monday is that it is the slowest day, in terms of dollar volume of business.
