Why are male dancers so hard to find?
In a ‘competitive’ or ‘serious’ dance environment, male dancers may be hard to find because western society generally does not view dancing as something particularly ‘masculine’ to do….. In a studio/lessons environment, male dancers tend to make themselves rare as soon as they realize that that old tomato about the ‘guy who can dance getting the girl’ is a fairy tale. In a real world/night club environment, there is no shortage of males (average male-to-female ratio tends to be somewhere around 5:1 or worse), how many of them can dance in any fashion whatsoever is very variable, so is how many of them will actually have the cojones to ask someone…….
