Chat rooms can be logged so that instructors can gauge participation in assigned discussion topics, have a transcript of chat discussion available to students who were not able to join the chat live or it can be used in class to initiate discussion. If your instructor has enabled the log feature in the Chat tool students can access it by clicking on View Log from the drop down menu accessed from the arrow to the right of the chat room name.
