Maine isn’t a liberal state. They’re dead-split between conservatives and liberals. Look at their Senators and representatives in the House as proof. In California, they have a republican governor (named Arnold, in case you forgot). The reason the gay marriage bill failed in that state is because black people tend to be homophobic just like conservative whites. To be surprised that it failed is just idiotic. Why must liberals be mockingly described as “enlightened and tolerant” by you? Can’t you refrain from rudeness for one moment? Edit: To answer your question regarding what state(s) is/are liberal, the answer is Hawaii. The next closest would have to be Minnesota (a state Republicans believed they would win in the 2008 elections, if you recall). Why do I say this about these two states?
