Why are LED lights considered an environmental choice?
LED lights use less electricity for a start. They also require substantially less frequent replacement, and are “rebuildable” which eliminates all environmental waste. It also eliminates the environmental impact involved in shipping multiple replacement lights. LED lights also eliminate many of the incentives people once had for leaving their office lights on: there are no cycling costs, LED lights turn on instantaneously, and can be put on a sensor. This means office lights are no longer more efficient if left on all night. Office tower lighting at night can interfere with night migrating birds – one less reason to leave the lights on is one more way you protect the environment.
