By their senior year all J-School majors must complete a learning portfolio that demonstrates the experience and knowledge that they have acquired from the program. Most journalism majors will start their learning portfolios in the 19:098 Journalistic Reporting and Writing course. Transfer students who do not take 19:098 will need to work with the Internship and Assessment Coordinator to develop their portfolio. The learning portfolio helps students integrate learning from different classes, identify career goals and chart progress toward those goals. While some professors will incorporate the portfolio into courses, it is not tied to any particular class. It contains: • An up-to-date one page resume. • Work samples that support job scenario goals: • Annotated list of work samples (one sentence describing each sample and two or three sentences analyzing its relationship to elements of the Iowa Dozen). • No more than 5-10 samples from your educational experience, including four journali
