Monitoring of groundwater levels in the Yarram area has shown a decline of approximately 1metre/year over the past 30 or more years. Irrigators around Yarram have campaigned for many years to have the added costs from falling groundwater levels on their businesses recognised. The majority of affected irrigators are in the Yarram area stretching from Golden Beach in the East to Welshpool in the West.
