Why are invasive species harmful?
Invasive species are harmful because they have no natural predators to keep their numbers in check. In their natural habitat they have predators which help keep the population down to manageable numbers. As an invasive species, their populations continue to climb unchecked crowding out native species for food and habitat space. Many invasive species also prey on native species in the area leading to the decline or complete eradication of the native species.
