Why Are Horror Movies So Popular?
What really makes good horror and what bad horror. Why do we embrace fear in such a controlled circumstances. Why do we embrace the dark when other times we fear what it can and probably will do to us. The answer, it’s fun in the right circumstances. When it’s in a controlled and safe area, fear and the dark is just fun. It makes things more interesting because it allows us to embrace things we wouldn’t normally think or care about. Well done horror throws a lot of different concepts in your face in a lot of different ways. It depends on the ethnic group behind it. That will be brought up later though concepts, storytelling styles and general stories end up being different based off of the world view of the writer and director. In terms of the storytelling style, you see a big difference between more western cultures and the Asian cultures. Western horror tends to be very linear.
