Why are Hoplites as good as Steam Giants on defense?
Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, I looked around but couldn’t find it…. I was really looking forward to researching Steam Giants, since I had read that you get less of them killed than Hoplites. But in my first battle using them, I found that just as many of them die. Not in percentage, but in numbers! Here’s the scenario: 4 slots have 30 Hoplites, 3 slots have 10 SG’s. Nothing upgraded. The SG’s are on the outside, which I thought protected them a little, but maybe not. Anyway, I’m fighting a Level 21 Wall with 14 Mortars behind it. In the first round, here’s what died in each column: 3 SG’s / 3 H’s / 4 H’s / 4 H’s / 3 H’s / 3 SG’s / 1 SG So OK, on one of the columns I only lost 1 SG, and on 2 I lost 4 H’s instead of 3, but overall, I’m losing about the same number of each, which for Hoplites means 1/10 of my column, but for Steam Giants means almost 1/3 of my column forces. And it means more cost replacing the Steam Giants. What’s the deal? Steam Giants have armor of 3, as
