Why are harley davidson motorcycles called hogs?

I don’t ride HD but I think that any rider in America should be familiar with them as the “patres familius” of the American riding culture. **EDIT** As to the Vmax jab, your wrong on your answer and wrong on your jab. I have an ’85 and an ’86 Vmax. They are both still running strong. They spent 20 years as the worlds fastest stock motorcycle, and they still do a plenty good job of smoking tires and eating miles.
